Lightweight, durable and great handling

I have ridden Conti GP 4000 and 4s all season tires on my single road bike, touring bike and tandem. I mounted the GP5000 on a touring and road bike and immediately noticed an improvement. The ride is a little smoother, they feel quicker and they're fantastic on downhill turns. This applies to both bikes. I rode them up and down Maui's Haleakala and my Strava time for the entire summit to Pia was 18% of all-time best descents. I usually go down about 30% and the only difference was the tyres…

Not failsafe if you live in a dirty place.

It was an upgrade from regular Gatorskins (not hard shell) that seemed tough to me. I did my research and read the reviews after the stone passed the GS center about 500 miles away. I'm used to NEVER getting a puncture with Specialized Armadillo tires, but I wanted to try something with better grip. These are good tires but don't trust the reviews. During my second trip with them I got an apartment. A small needle, about 2 cm long, went right through the middle. Now I have to ride my expensive…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

You really need to make a list of the rims that these tires will fit on. The pearl is huge compared to anything I've ever seen. I put some tubeless tires on my wheels. They're tougher than clinchers, but once you get the hang of them they're not that bad, but these are. The bead is so thick that it's not in the center of the rim, which is the trick you have to pull off. I tried for six days and used all the tricks in the book. I broke four tire arms and damaged the rim. I gave up, ordered the…

OK. If you're new to tubeless, say goodbye to me. I'm also new to tubeless. I've never been more disappointed in my life. I bought them before and went back to my LBS. I had two pros try to install and after a few hours I came out completely defeated. My hands hurt and my four-year-old son's vocabulary has expanded a bit😂. I gave up. Then it happened. These tires are really tough. cannot be mounted. I put them on my old tube wheels and pumped them up to 120psi. They stay day and night. Install

Perspective tubeless tires

Before I switched to tubeless about 5 years ago, I only rode GP4000/s. The main difficulty for me with tubeless tires was finding a consistently reliable tire with adequate ride and handling. When I heard that Conti not only makes the 5000 series, but that there would be a tubeless version, I realized I had finally won the bike by constantly sacrificing tubeless tires and releasing orange shiny blood. gods. I've put about 150 miles on it so can't really comment on the setup and ride. More…

Don't read this, just buy them, SERIOUSLY, now

These tires give me SO much free time at my favorite circuit. Stop reading this and buy them now. I'll listen to Martin Fry and see if Revain still sells lamé jackets while you're at it. YES, I'm old, so I need to get faster with less effort. If you ride an old bike like mine with old tires you should just get these great all round tires. You are so fast. I was using really old Bontrager 23 race lights. I was running these GP 5000 25s. I was instantly FIFTEEN seconds per mile faster and all I…

Pros
  • Very good value for money

Not as puncture proof as Continental claims

I really wanted to love these tires but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay for them. I put a new 25mm kit on my bike earlier this year and wrecked the rear tire in less than 40 miles. Something went through the tyre, including the Vectran anti-puncture layer. My previous tires (another make/model no longer made) used Kevlar and ran over 3,000 miles without a flat - only 3 or 4 flats in 20,000 miles. (It's nice to replace tires that are actually worn out, rather than wearing out.) Maybe it was a…

Volkswagen - Sport

My guess is that the German Volkswagen engineers involved in the VW emissions cheating scandal were immediately hired by Continental in the bicycle tire department after they were fired to improve the GP4000SII tires on them make it faster, more aerodynamic, lighter, etc. I suspect that, as you might expect, after an hour or so they decided to just rename the tires: 25mm tires were now called 28s; etc. Mission accomplished; and wind tunnel, checked to scale. The GP4000 sz 28 measured 28-29 when
