Review on SharkBite Reducing Coupling Connect Copper by David Gill

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very easy to use in tight spaces

I have a 1/2 inch bib and need more water. So I ripped out the existing lines and replaced them with 1" and 3/4" CPVC. The breastplate was in a hard-to-reach place. I had to go from 3/4" to 1/2" in a spot I couldn't reach very well with a torch or CPVC glue. It connected the two materials perfectly. It leaked a bit, but that's because I didn't put it all the way in. As soon as I put it all the way in, it stopped flowing. It's just hard for me to believe this will last. I have two of these in a basement with exposed ceilings and plasterboard walls, so the leak could be serious. In one area I think I'll take where I can get and make a more permanent CPVC male sweaty copper female thread just to be 100% sure the connection is there. The other one is next to the floor drain and is harder to get to, so I leave it alone. in a hard-to-reach place with a torch, glue, or a PEX crimping tool. I would like to know that you can remove the PEX guides from the fitting using a suitable removal tool and needle nose pliers. I would do this in hopes it would result in a smoother flow of water. I would buy them again and if they last 25 years like MFG guarantees them then they are a great solution. Bibs and thus shark bites will only be replaced in 25 years.
