Review on Tetra Whisper Easy Aquariums Non UL Fish & Aquatic Pets by Christine Noland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Work big or don't go home to your deoxygenated tank.

I bought a Tetra 100 for a 55 gallon tank. The pump is about 4 feet below the tank and should also fit another foot into the tank. So that's about 5 feet or more of hose. Also, you should have a check valve if it's under the tank. Skip this step and you could potentially flood your house. Now you have bigger problems. The check valve reduces the efficiency by about 20%. Tank height may or may not reduce efficiency by another 5-15%. And the air stone reduces it by maybe another 5-10%. This is a reduction in efficiency of around 30-45% when all measures are added. I have an air stone and pump hooked up to a 55 gallon sponge filter. What is 100% minus 45%? Well what do you know that's about 55% efficiency so yeah a 100 pump is perfect for a 55 gallon tank. Thanks. It releases a ton of scattered bubbles and I keep the pump in the left corner of the tank. It's been working great so far and my fish have become much more active. I use it in a 10 gallon quarantine tub by the way and 3 Mollys are comfortable. Well, honestly, it's not an exaggeration. The more the better.
