FAST EZ EFI left me stumped. Luckily Brian Pitcher from Engineering worked with me to fix all the bugs. Initially the system was constantly recording O2 codes and freezing......then the hot start was very violent, sometimes up to 40 seconds. Brian asked me to go into the "About" screen and tell him what the "RFI Count" was... it was 102 meaning RFI, the code should have been 00. Brian explained that the wires needed replacing so I replaced Taylor wires with a Spiro wrapper and that fixed the problem but the hang and code registration persisted. The next conversation turned to trying to increase the voltage on the pink wire during startup. The Camino actually dropped to 7.9 volts when hot started. Surprisingly, the starter RPM was still high, leading to mixed signals. Brian told me that the system actually needs at least 10 volts when cranking or the system will be erratic, throwing codes and having an erratic idle. I reluctantly replaced the battery that was originally rated for 535 CCA and replaced it with a 700 CCA model. Unfortunately, the fixes suggested by FAST don't make much of a difference. I've now spent over $300 rebuilding the alternator, replacing the spark plug wires, replacing the cap and rotor, and replacing the battery. Brian Pitcher has found many ways to solve the "radio interference" problem that even a computer can no longer see. I did everything he suggested but the car still stops and sets the O2 code every time after exiting the freeway. In the end I decided to send the ECU back to FAST for a check, although Brian told me he was sure he was fine. When I was looking for an electronic fuel injection system for my newest car, I called FAST and asked. if i could buy a FAST XFI ecu and connector so my fuel injector can make a wire harness for my car. At that time they explained to me that I had to buy their harness because it was RFI safe and packaged. I've now bought their complete system in an EZ EFI kit (complete from fuel system to ECU and wiring harness and yet somehow they haven't shielded THAT harness from radio interference. Maybe I'm being cynical here but I've made all the changes that they have. I spent about 15 hours installing the system and now I've spent another 15 hours making the necessary changes A few hundred dollars more Supposedly the 2.0 system is more complex but before purchasing I looked online for reviews of both systems searched.I found virtually no bad reviews for the 1.0 system. The 2.0 system was a different story as it has a small port in the ECU that accepts an SD card. This is the port to do the software update from their website to update to the latest software. As of December 2013, 5 updates have already been released for the 2.0 system, un d the feedback was long oh unflattering. I decided to buy the 1.0 instead, although there is no way to update the ECU unless you take it back to the factory and flash it. My device wasn't on the Fast Store shelf because the software was only installed a few days before I received it. I've been fiddling with this system for 8 weeks to no avail, hopefully when the ECU comes back it will work. Unfortunately, the ECU return showed no improvement. It was a tough decision, but I decided to remove the fuel injection. Repeated attempts did not lead to anything good. Atlanticspeed.com really went out of their way to help me with this issue as they were the original retailer I purchased the FAST system from. They agreed with me, credited the entire system, and supplied me with a new carburetor and associated parts to replace. From a technical point of view, I am disappointed with the treatment I received from FAST. They have repeatedly stated that the problems are caused by radio interference, although the registration system built into the device says otherwise. At Brian's urging I replaced the wires, battery and alternator but to no avail. If it's an RFI issue, I should be wondering why this whole system didn't build shielding into the wiring harness instead of blaming the vehicle for erratic behavior. no problem." I get offended every time someone says something like that or "We've never had this problem before." We've all heard this from time to time when speaking to the company about an issue with one of their products and to be honest I expect more from Comp Cams, the parent company of FAST.The key factor in this distance is also......what if something goes wrong in this system 300 miles from home what if Easier to repair, a car with a carburetor or a car with a non-original fuel injection system? Edelbrock #1400 carburetor This carburetor is calibrated for fuel economy and features an electric choke.
