Review on Smad Propane Refrigerator: 3 Way Fridge for RV & Outdoor Camper – Gas/110V/12V, 1.4 Cu.ft, Black by Ivan Carson

In my testing it worked well and cooled faster than I expected on 120v and propane. It worked acceptably well at 12v. I used a 13" propane toilet regulator in my testing and that regulator was NOT the one that came with the fridge. The regulator that came with the fridge was marked 1 PSI and it is (I measured). This is too much pressure as both the user manual, this webpage and email correspondence with SMAD confirm that the 1 PSI regulator was inadvertently turned on. Proper pressure is 11 to 12 inches of water column, but if your system is 13 inches I think that's fine too. Well, most people may not be aware that too much pressure leads to too much heat input. In any absorption refrigeration system, excessive heat significantly shortens life and can lead to leaks and even fires. I gave it 2 stars instead of 4 because of this dangerous regulator. I would give it 5 stars: 1. If it had a built in spirit level. Leveling is very important for any absorption refrigerator, as a deviation of more than five degrees can lead to refrigerant flow blockage, leaks and even fires. This problem exists with all brands of RV fridges and many of them burn out (mostly flat road, uphill and all this is not a problem from shaking and vibration while driving, but make sure you are aligned somewhere stop.) 2. The interior light is only 120v, not 12v. 3. The thermostat only regulates 120v, not propane or 12v. Tip: Since this is such a small fridge, install your own level control just for the fridge. If it's in a closed RV, be sure to purchase a vent kit and vent the propane gases to the outside.
