Knitted bedspread

I saw an Afghan pattern on Ravelri that said it was a bedspread. I had heard the word from my mother and other elders since I was a child, but I didn't know what it meant except that it was related to the veil. I liked what I saw on Ravelry so I looked for more information. I found this book and realized I needed it. I think it takes a lot of practice to get good at squares, but they don't seem too difficult. It looks like the bedspread might take a long time to make, but it was worth it. Interestingly, on page 2 there was a link to Atoinette Luckner Webster's collection of Eat Poultney, VT. I have Webster relatives from VT. I don't know if she is related to her but I wrote to the Poultney VT Historical Society and found out that Toni had passed away and they didn't know where her collection was but they did know her friend and hopefully one day I will be of you hear friends. If you love knitting and want a challenging and fun challenge, try a bedspread. The squares are created and assembled in the same way as quilt squares: a random pattern becomes a beautiful "picture" when the squares are sewn together.
