Review on IIT 16687 Blade Pin Tester by Kevin Pirlet

The tester was plugged into the 7-pin towing electrical connector in the rear of the SUV. The top row of 3 green LEDs blinked continuously, extremely weak, and nothing changed when I turned on the parking lights, braked, or turned on the turn signals or hazard lights. I then decided to test the circuits with old trailer or car brake and running light bulbs and a "7-way blade to 4-way flat trailer adapter" that I had to use with U-Haul trailers - see photos. This simple setup worked great and confirmed that the vehicle's tow chains were indeed working properly. I can only assume that on my vehicle at least, the green LEDs on the tester are not providing enough electrical load to my SUV to detect its presence and power the appropriate blades for the tester to function properly.
