I believe this is the same tape I used many years ago but this time it was not for a bike but for the steering wheel of a 2002 car which surface has become slippery over the years is (and 250,000 miles) wear. Not only was the steering wheel smooth, it was made of a hard material and was cold on winter mornings until the entire cabin was warmed up, making the early morning commute even more uncomfortable. However, the main problem was the smooth surface, which made it difficult to grip and thus compromised safety. The adhesive is very tacky and will cover most of the inner layer of the woven fabric leaving maybe 1/64 inch left and right exposed. It sticks by itself so exposing just a few inches is recommended A time on site wrapping and then a test drive, I was sure I wanted to finish the job using the same Newbaum tape and the second roll was quick thanks to the Action of the A-zon fast there The flexibility of this tape is impressive, allows for sharp corners between the handlebar and the wheel spoke without wrinkling and it looks like Mad Max (rather than an aftermarket auto parts store) but it's cool, I don't need the Hawaiian hibiscus flowers anywhere on the steering wheel. I don't freeze my hands and is a little softer than the stuff underneath that was so good to grab behind the steering column before sticking.
