How did I live 3 years with bare stairs? It is great! They're not sticky; more like a silicone film that sticks well enough for me. My floors are relatively new and shiny. I suspect if your surface is rougher you may need to use the double stick tape provided. Let me talk about the complaints: 1. Back cover is difficult to remove. Solution - a piece of tape glued to the corner perfectly holds a thin film. Peel off the film and reuse the tape next time.2. The steps fold in half. Because they are packaged in a box with a stack half stacked on top of each other, they do not wrinkle and unfold easily.
