It looks like everything will be fine because I didn't get a lot of opportunity to use a caliper when I had the coronavirus and was recovering. When using it for the first time, the gears seem to be a bit stiff. But indeed, for $20 it's safe, and if it doesn't fall apart along the way I'll be delighted. One day when I have nothing to do. haha, I will oil and polish the guides with 2000-3500 grit sandpaper and see if the engagement of the dial is adjustable.
