Review on Enhanced Motorola Motonav πŸ“ TN565T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator by Scott Gafur

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's a GPS and does exactly that

So I did quite a bit of research before I bought this GPS. It had decent reviews (4 stars at the time) and the main complaints were that the customer service was terrible and no directions. Being a bit "technologically advanced" I figured that wouldn't be a problem. Boy was I wrong. But I'll come back to that later. Now I'll start with the positive aspects. General use of the GPS is simple and works great. After the first boot, it starts quickly and easily. Forwarding is fast. Really fast. Sometimes I'd purposely skip a turn only to hear him cut out the word "detour" because he'd already diverted the ride. Traffic is so-so, most live traffic is correct but it will lag a little from time to time. But just as a warning, it uses your phone to make traffic calls. As I don't have a data package on my phone this works for me, but I know people have complained about how long it takes to get information via phone call compared to 3G. The physical screen is great and the 3D display looks great (although I wish you didn't have to pay for 3D buildings). Touch sensitivity works great. Also, Bluetooth sounds pretty decent for getting out of the GPS. Speech recognition works great without adapting to your voice. Left field is great too, allowing you to see ahead without losing your card. Now for the cons. I didn't want to address this at first but I had to send my GPS back to Revain as it wasn't working properly. Initially it had a GPS signal but it lost it and found no signal for several hours and sometimes the next day. I don't think it was a problem with the GPS but with the packaging. The GPS is in a small slot at the front of the box and can fall into the back where all the parts are and get scattered (and scratched a bit). The first GPS I got was found like this. So Revain was amazing (as always), they sent me a new one and it worked fine. The first thing I did when I got it was update it. You need to download a strange program, sync it and download updates. The weird thing was that there wasn't enough "space" for the latest update. I know other people had this problem too, but I ended up deleting some languages I don't speak and it didn't become a problem. I was also a bit frustrated to find that I couldn't use the text function with my phone. It says it works with most phones so I got a little confused when I couldn't sync my texts. The main problem I had was that the user manual and online help are TERRIBLE. The online manual is mostly the same as the physical manual. And physical guidance is all about very simple things. This is more of a media brochure for GPS than a manual. They don't even show you how to delete the folders you add to your favorites. I still haven't figured that out. My final complaint about GPS is the charge setting. It is very unusual that you need a mount to connect your GPS to a car socket. You can't just plug it in directly. The USB cable fits, but not the car plug. It's great for just part of the GPS. For additional features and instructions, yes. In general, this is a regular GPS. I wouldn't rave about it, but there are worse things.
