Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Corded Knife and Tool Sharpener by Smith 50933 by Shawna Williams

It works as long as you're careful

After reading some of the reviews I had my doubts. A lot of people have said that 20 degrees isn't good for pocket knives, but I didn't really think that was true. I've found that most pocket/folding knives use 20-23 degrees as their base. With this information I have used the sharpener on several different blades and each is much sharper than before without much effort or changing edge geometry. Pros: + Works fast and well. You must follow the instructions carefully and use enough force to keep the blade in contact with the belt, especially when grinding the edge where the belt is trying to pull the blade out of the guide (left side of the grinder). + Its compactness and ease of use. Once you set it up, it's fairly easy to use and effective, although I imagine it will be a bit more difficult for left-handers as it seems like the power button isn't symmetrical in its position and you can don't turn around around and use it. Cons: - Straps are a pain to get into. It's not quick or easy to switch between straps. It can take a few minutes of gentle pressure to get them in and out, and I was afraid of breaking or damaging them a few times. - Belts run out quickly. The belts have no hard grain and wear out fairly quickly. - Does not sharpen the heel. So at the bottom of the blade (the part closest to the handle/ricasso) is the blade heel and in many cases I couldn't get the sharpener to sharpen it because you can't push the blade in far enough Instructions to sharpen it there.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
