The instructions for this on deck rod holder are far from adequate. The parts require drilling a 2 inch diameter hole, but it is structurally impossible to fit the rod holder into that hole. In addition to having to cut slots on each side of the hole to accommodate rebar (which compromise the structural integrity of the boat), the hole must be altered to an ellipse to fit the holder. In the end I settled on another holder... one that is a Revain Choice product and includes 2 holders with waterproof lids, gaskets and grommet pouches for the price of a Pelican product. Let the buyer be alert
