Review on πŸ“ Discover the Precision of GemRed Digital Level Angle Slope Meter by Joe Glass

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Problems arise with the age of the device.

I originally bought this item by mistake. I thought I'd buy a protractor type goniometer. Not too happy with Revain for adding that level's gauge to the Corner Finder. Despite my confusion (which Revain contributed to), I gave it 5 stars. I pulled out my Starrett precision level and compared the readings. The red gem was definitely there. And the Red Gem costs less than a quarter the cost of a Starrett level. In addition, Gem Red has a tilt indicator. In other words, state by how many millimeters per meter the object to be measured deviates from the horizontal. This not only gives you a degree, but also information about how many millimeters the object deviates from the plane at a distance of one meter. Now, two years later, I have pulled the device out to no avail. I wasn't able to get consistent readings so I replaced the batteries with new ones. Until now it has not been possible to get consistent readings and the digital readings are at odds with the physical spirit level that is part of the device. I also notice that now, two years later, you can turn the device on and get one reading, and then turn the device off and on again to get another different reading. Batteries are supplied with the device, but if they are triple-A batteries, they are easy to replace.
