Works right out of the box. Calibration is not required. The non-digital 3 foot spirit levels are quite sensitive but will not give you any tilt. When it comes down to it, this level is just as sensitive and gives you a number to report.

I originally bought this item by mistake. I thought I'd buy a protractor type goniometer. Not too happy with Revain for adding that level's gauge to the Corner Finder.
