I replaced the luggage racks in the trunk (for a Mercedes 2008 SLK 280) with another brand, not BOXI, less than half a year ago. You have failed less than in this time. The first ones were unbranded but looked like an exact replacement for the factory storage racks but were clearly inferior to them. The BOXI units were cheaper and claimed a "Limited Lifetime Warranty", but I'm not sure what that actually means. Here's a tip: the instructions that came with the stands state that you should use a small screwdriver to remove the metal clip that closes the case, which contains a ball stud that attaches to the trunk hinges (scissor springs). Not. Just use a screwdriver or very small pair of pliers to move the spring towards the end of the body but still in the grooves on each side. This frees the container to hold the ball stud. Slide it over the bar and pry up the clip again with a pair of small pliers or a very small screwdriver. He will take his place. If you actually remove the clip (which you can) it will be very difficult to put it back into the slots on the end of the case. Another tip: these racks have a high compression ratio. You may find that the post fits FAST, but you need another 1/8 inch to get the ball in the body. You can unscrew the three screws that attach the scissor hinge to the trunk lid. This allows you to move the cover a little and install the spacer. With the spacers in place, it will be easier to adjust the decklid later if necessary.
