This pencil sharpener works very well. It is compact and runs on four AA batteries or AC power via an adapter that also plugs into a computer/laptop USB port. His blade is sharp. It's fast, a little faster with AC. It has a safety feature that shuts off the motor when the shaver case is open. I give it 4 stars because the plastic it's made of isn't strong enough. Opening the razor case is not that easy. Given the quality of the plastic it's made of, I believe the transparent lid of this jar is easy to break at the attachment points on the main body. There is a three position knob. But from what I see with mine, only two produce a visible change in the shape of a sharpened pencil point. In my opinion, this feature is useless as it doesn't work as expected. All in all, this is a decent product.
