Review on πŸ”‘ Dorman 85936 Starter Ignition Switch by Stephen Cernatescu

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A simple switch with some limitations.

Purchased to rebuild a 1928 Chevrolet truck. I wanted to add a minimal level of security and a key to the boot process and that was a step in the right direction. The first thing you need to know is that security hardware is unique. According to the folks at Tacoma Screw, the fasteners are neither metric nor US (don't loosen the fastener nuts and don't expect to buy a washer to go behind them). Worse still, nothing prevents the assembly from turning when the mounting nut is loosened. All of these problems can be easily eliminated with simple editing. However, this applies a positive voltage to the solenoid to indicate the starter. It has an ignition and accessory output terminal (pin #10 on the back of the switch) as well as a solenoid output. I'm happy with the purchase but they could have put more effort into keeping the derailleur off it. turn.
