I bought these two items for my aquarium with turtles. I placed the temperature controller so that it's easy to read when approaching the aquarium without disturbing Tommy Boy when he's sunbathing. I have a ceramic lamp next to the fluorescent lights and they are timed so I don't have to reach for the fish tank to turn them on and off. This is my first sea turtle and I'm going to find out what makes her happy and healthy. I found these items inexpensive. Update: The heat lamp still works great - no problems. However, the included digital thermometer stopped working properly after only 5 months. It shows that the water temperature is constantly increasing, although the water temperature is stable at 75 degrees, which is confirmed by two other thermometers. No problem, just remember that it's better to have more than one thermometer to monitor the water in your tank.
