I double checked that the hardware was installed correctly as shown in the picture. I had a drill ready to attach the hardware to the underside of the sofa. I realized that the smaller end of the hardware probably wouldn't fit into the existing metal threads in the couch - it was just too big. Since I can't stretch the metal thread (hole) anymore, I figured I couldn't use fasteners and just screw the legs directly to the bottom of the sofa without any additional hardware for support. And find out. the external thread is too small and doesn't stop at anything. That left me with no choice but to flip the hardware upside down, screw in the 3 x 12 screws, and just as I expected. 1 leg is completely broken and 3 others are completely bent and ready to collapse at any moment. The device size should be noted before purchasing. I have no idea where to find replacement hardware, but even if I do, the threads are still broken. And FINALLY the returns window has closed. Just great. Such a waste.
