I have a Garmin padded travel case for my GPSMAP 64ST, but I don't think it offers adequate protection. It also prevented me from simply holding the USB cable and device together. Since I have rechargeable batteries installed, having a USB cable on hand to power the unit is paramount. Since I like to take the device with me on car trips, the added protection and ability to keep the GPS and cable together was worth the extra weight. Would I take this suitcase on a hike? Probably not as it's a bit chunky and heavy. However, I don't need a USB cable in most hiking scenarios, so this is a really moot point. The case is well made and I really have to assume it will work in normal use as long as the GPS is up. The elastic band is the type that is likely to stretch and deform a bit with frequent use. However, the device is very snug against the body, so I'm not worried about keeping it safe for many years to come. In the attached photo you can see that I use a Tusinga brand case on my GPSMAP 64ST. . Even with this cover adding more bulk, the GPS still fits, although the fit was a bit tight. I suppose the case will eventually fit that, so again the case is everything I could have hoped for. Get it - I don't think you will be disappointed!
