I bought this mainly for the exercise wheel because the exercise wheel that came with the cage wasn't very good (it was such a disc shaped exercise machine and the hamster didn't sit on it very often). My daughter thought Pumpkin (our orange and black hamster) would love to run around in the purple ring so I built and installed the tower. As I was installing it, the upper part of the "outhouse" opened up. But I figured that was just because I was tipping everything around and pushing things around, so I closed it with a click (and yes, I make sure I heard that click). ) and thought that was it. Until we woke up this morning and the toilet seat was ajar and there was no pumpkin. So now I spend the day comforting my baby instead of a million other things I'd rather be doing. .I checked the lid, and even if I snap it open, I can reach out and easily open the lid with my finger. It requires almost no pressure. I just wish I knew I had to test this before Pumpkin was lost. .I will NEVER buy this cheap company's product again unless I can test it in the store and make sure the hamster can't open it and run away.
