Review on ๐Ÿงข Motorcraft FC1080 Cap - Optimal Replacement for FC1079 When Stock Runs Out by David Roberts

Don't trust a cheap aftermarket

I replaced a 1 year old aftermarket gas cap with this one. I had an issue with some people trying to steal my gas so I replaced my original aftermarket gas cap after the parts dealer assured it would work just like the original; The would-be thief didn't have any gas as new cars have some sort of strainer to keep siphon hoses from getting into the fuel tank, but I still thought a deterrent cap would be a good idea. My check engine light came on almost immediately. Come on because the aftermarket cap didn't seal the fuel tank properly. I've recently moved to a better area and felt I didn't need a locking gas cap, so I reverted to the original Motorcraft gas cap that the car originally came with. Anyone looking for a fastener cover. Motorcraft sells them for about $30 here on Revain; I recommend these in place of the $15 gas caps. It costs extra money to ensure your car's fuel system continues to function properly.
