Review on πŸ”§ Steelex D3573 16 Piece Forstner Shank Set by Brian Trujillo

Very good for a cheap nozzle set

Very good cut! I really enjoyed using them. Don't expect something you can use all day, every day. They are intended for occasional use in your workshop. I only used a few bits in this set but they worked pretty well and are way better than the set I bought from Home Depot (Ryobi brand). Plus, they come in a handy box to keep them safe. Be careful when you pull them out, they are sharp and the box will hold them in place. Good that there are so many sizes! 2 1/4 makes a pretty big hole. and lots of chips! I only used them in my drill press. Unlike a typical self-feed hole saw, the Forstner is not designed to drill a lot of holes quickly. For hand drills, a self-feed drill is more suitable. If you buy the wrong tool for the job, you will do a poor job. Drilling a 2 1/4 diameter hole with a hand drill requires slow speed and a lot of stamina. the drill does not go through the tree. Research a Forstner bit before you buy one, and don't expect it to do anything it wasn't designed to do. Update: I've been using them quite a bit lately and they make some great holes. I have used many sizes and each cut very well. Contrary to some reviews stating that the small 1/4" nozzle does not remove chips, I have not found this to be the case. Every nozzle did a great job! Take a look at the picture I've attached to see the quality 3/4" and 1/2" holes I drilled. Highly recommended! Update: After over a year of average use these bits are still very sharp and doing their job well. I am very satisfied with this set. TIP: Write the bit size on the wooden storage box under the bit so you can find the size quickly.
