🔧 Steelex D3573 16 Piece Forstner Shank Set Review

I ordered this set for two reasons. Firstly it was a full span of 16 bits and secondly it had hex shanks for the big bits. Anyone who has turned large drill bits on a drill press can tell you that hex shafts cost an extra dollar or two. I got what I expected. For a small amount of around $4.50, these aren't high-end tools. As with all low-to-mid range woodworking tools, this price is due to the lower quality of tool processing. Expect burrs on the cutting edges and grinding marks on the inside.

This set "appears" to be cheaper than the Porter Cable or Freud offerings but if I knew how insanely difficult it is to get drills out of theirs to get a storage box, I'm happy to spend more money on other brands. The bits do not easily fit into the retaining holes drilled in the storage box; Instead, each bit in each hole is "swaged" into a plastic sleeve, making it almost impossible to remove from the box without pulling hard enough to risk catching the sharp edges of the cutting tool you're…

Very good cut! I really enjoyed using them. Don't expect something you can use all day, every day. They are intended for occasional use in your workshop. I only used a few bits in this set but they worked pretty well and are way better than the set I bought from Home Depot (Ryobi brand). Plus, they come in a handy box to keep them safe.
