Strawberry season has come and as we have a neighboring property there have been plenty of fresh berries. I saw a special knife for slicing strawberries in a magazine and tried to use my knife for slicing eggs as the principle was the same. The only problem I had with my old egg slicer was that sometimes underripe berries would pull the wires too tight. Saw it was advertised as being able to peel berries. It sounded like a win-win situation. It's solidly built, has a base that sticks to the kitchen counter, and a bowl for collecting boxes. Those were my problems. I found that there was obviously a learning curve so I've used it many times and can say I've had two berries with perfect skins since purchase. Most of the time I remove the peel by hand after cutting. Impressed with its cutting ability, very durable. Impressed with the cleaning as it doesn't stain even after leaving it in the sink overnight with splashes of juice. stay on the countertop if you like. I chopped about 20 berries this morning and had a second perfectly peeled berry. The photo usually shows what I have in the bottom bowl after cutting. Good product, but the peeling function did not live up to expectations.
