I have had 2 garage doors with a Liftmaster on one and a Genie Promax on the other. The Liftmaster programming is impeccable and works like a charm, as do the instructions. Programming on Genius is a headache. I've read a lot of programming reviews on here and got really confused about what we're trying to achieve and ended up using some common sense. I used the exact same technique on two remotes and programmed them for 5 minutes each, where I spent about 45 minutes the day before. First you need to understand what each step in the process means. Holding the bottom button puts the remote in programming mode. If you press the button 2 times, you will ask the remote control to send signals with different frequencies to the garage door opener that is recognized by this button. When the light on the opener stops flashing and stays on, it means the frequency is matched with the remote control. When the LED goes out it means the opener has received the code/frequency. PLEASE NOTE THAT PROGRAMMING IS EASIER WHEN THE GARAGE DOOR IS DOWN THAN UP. So make sure you have closed your garage door before programming. Here are the steps.1. Press and hold the bottom button on the remote control until the blue indicator2 lights up. Press the learning button on the door opener3. Press the button on the remote that you want to program TWICE (no further press required)4. Watch the red LED on the door opener light up. Once this happens, press once the button on the remote control you wish to use (this will stop sending additional frequency codes and end programming)5. Press the same button again and watch the red light on the door opener come on (confirms the frequency for the opener). 6. Press the same button again to open the garage door. Note that the difficulty is that if the light is on all the time and you don't press the button on the remote quickly enough, the remote will switch to a different frequency and therefore won't work. So watch the light and as soon as it lights up, press the button on the remote control and after 1 second press it again to confirm the code/frequency. One of the reviewers mentioned pressing it when the light starts flashing, but by then it's too late. So double tap when it lights up and wait for the light to go off then tap again. Hope this is helpful.
