Review on πŸ”† Halo RL56 Zigbee Wireless Smart LED Recessed Downlight: Adjustable Color Temperature, 5 in. and 6 in. by Julie Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

If you have an Echo Plus, Alexa will trick you.

I got this bulb to fill an empty can but for a socket in my new apartment. Since this is a Zigbee light with adjustable white balance and I have an Echo Plus I thought this would be perfect. Well damn near. First tip - read the instructions before you start. This makes installation easier if you have never installed a ceiling light before. Installation isn't overly complicated - in fact, it's pretty damn easy if your jar has little clips you can snap the springs to if you know what to look for. Turn it on and it will blink twice to indicate it's ready to pair. This is where the train derailed for me trying to get Alexa to find a new device. What I didn't think of was opening the Alexa app and actually SEEING - the Echo Plus had already added a backlight and didn't tell me. A quick in-app renaming and I was able to control dimming, on/off and light color balance on the fly. I would give it 5 stars apart from the fact that it only has instructions on how to pair SmartThings or Wink, not Echo, and no instructions on how to reset pairing mode if needed. So 4.4 stars, rounded up to 4. Still a pretty cool machine.
