My pellet stove caught a strange wind and filled the house at 2am! I had these on SmartThings 2 and it just sounded like a different brand (unaffiliated). I received it on January 24th, 2018, probably a few days later I installed it. Because most of us (I guess) never touch them again. An event took place on January 12, 2019. The pellet stove somehow returned smoke to the house (no fire) and another sensor in another part of the house woke me up, I found the cause, ventilated the house with 20* air pushed by a 30 mph wind . Quickly. While waiting for the oven to completely shut down and cool down, check my SmartThings, 80% battery and no alarms? THE? ON BOTH! Sunday, 10 a.m. I look through these sensors and test them with the push of a button. Do both work? Now I happened to notice "TEST WEEKLY". A few hours later my wife sees lunch for us, with smoke both now work correctly (LOUD) and the app shows the event? So I find the company number and call. A very pleasant voice asks how she can help. I'll explain the process and add that I've never tested these things. She asks several times are you sure everything is ok? Nothing damaged? No, I assure you, nothing was hurt. Early Monday morning I received a call from another group of them, again explaining the situation with genuine concern (not company policy). Are you sure everything is ok? However, they insist on sending new ones and returning the old ones with batteries to me to find the reason! Due to my remote location, it took a few days to receive new ones, but they were shipped the same day. I replaced them and sent the old ones back. After all this I received over 3 phone calls and several emails from a genuinely interested company who was able to say very simply and honestly that TEST WEEKLY is clearly listed on the docs and on the front of the units! THANKS FOR THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! TESTING WEEKLY IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA! I suspect the problem could be with all the SmartThings I've been adding over the year, the hub would turn on and off from time to time, and I've never tested them like I've confessed to them.
