Assembly point interferes with my hand placement

I've been stand up paddling for over 8 years and will usually do at least 3 miles when I go out. I love the lightweight and sturdiness of this paddle. The curved blade is very efficient. My issue with this paddle is the top assembly point interferes with my hand placement. I've tried several different lengths on the top third of the paddle but cannot find one that the assembly knuckle is not in my way.

Arrived fast.....simple to put together Great paddle love it!

Cons

The bag and case may not provide adequate protection during transportation or storage
