Review on S27A950D 27" Samsung Monitor: Full HD, 3D Display, LS27A950DS/ZA by Ramesh Daniels

I wish we could somehow rate a product on its potential and not just on the end result. There are many good points about this Samsung monitor, but there is one major problem with these displays. Many other reviewers who have had problems have indicated that they thought it was a manufacturing defect, but I am convinced it is actually a design defect. The problem I found was noticeable light bleeding in the lower right corner and the crease started to develop within the 25 days I had (same spot). I think all of them will have this problem (some people might be more tolerant) because the monitor is extremely unbalanced and quite shaky with the entire LCD supported only by the bottom right side of the stand. Any slight movement I made in my computer room would cause the monitor to wobble and flex, similar to the torque/flex you see in a rod. While the base may look "modern" or "cool", it is too unstable for prolonged use and in my opinion a terrible solution to use on a massive 27" computer monitor with as little structural support as possible. Image quality was pretty good, but unless I set the magic setting to film (resulting in exaggerated outlines), most of the colors looked washed out. I've found that my eyes get tired because it's very difficult to get a "white" that isn't too bright. If you decrease the brightness, a blue-gray tint appears. the panel is mounted vertically and is too high above the table. Without height adjustment, it should have been much shorter. For those of us who are under 6ft this is not good. If it's too short you can always put the book under you to prop it up at the right height if there's no built in adjustment. but if it's too high to start with, you have a serious dilemma because TN/PVA looks bad from below. I really wanted to keep it but there are too many issues that will only get worse over time. 3D was never tested because I'm not interested in it. I am very thankful to have Revain to give back. I wouldn't be happy if I stuck with it. especially at its very high cost.
