The perfect collar for a Basset Hound to avoid a protruding neck

Martingale collars are normally thought of as training collars but they have proven to be the best collars for our Basset Hound. She doesn't like halters very much and her head really isn't wider than her neck, making it difficult to wear a regular collar while walking. In addition, loose skin on the neck with a regular collar, balloons over a collar with an extremely puffy top is very unattractive, distorts its appearance and looks very uncomfortable. These martingale collars solve both of these problems. They rest on her neck when she's relaxed with just enough room for her flabby body, doesn't deform her neck AT ALL, but effectively tightens the leash, or when you need to grab her to keep it from slipping over her head. The collar itself works very well - it doesn't stay on for even a second unless tugged on. It's also absolutely beautiful and available in multiple colors. Very good quality strap and hardware. I have three of these, so I can wash and replace them with new ones once a week or more often if needed. The fact that it's looser on the dog when they're comfortable keeps it from getting messy like a regular tight collar, but reusable, washable collars are a great dog grooming systemโ€”and they're so pretty even changing them is fun . We have paisley, red and a very unusual peach. It's one of those things that's hard to imagine without now that we've found it, and this is my third basset hound.
