Review on πŸ” Purolator L36135 Cartridge Oil Filter - Enhanced Engine Protection for Premium Performance by Christopher Isaac

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Environmentally friendly

I don't know why it took me so long to guess that it's easier to put an oil filter on the engine. Replacing the filter cartridge is easy; It's easy to get to and all the oil is already drained before you take the filter out. I believe the reusable steel cap saves some materials and waste costs, but adds an extra step to the replacement process and makes disposing of the old filter a little messier. Where I live they say oil filters shouldn't be thrown in the trash, but there's no bin for them at the waste oil landfill. Filters everywhere, but far from in the car dealership. Then came the Fram with filter and now the Purolator. They still aren't sold in discount auto parts stores, but that's likely to change soon. The Purolator filter is perfect, cheaper than Fram or Mopar (and the price keeps dropping) and I'm not worried about the quality. Material. The o-ring doesn't seem to need to be changed every time, but I change it and have saved an old o-ring in case something happens later. I also use a torque wrench to make sure I'm not over-tightening the reusable cap, which would require a visit to the dealer for an expensive replacement.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
