Doesn't cut all the way through

Love the strong handles and how easy they are to hold. My problem with this is that it doesn't cut all the way through. He stops as quickly as if the plastic part of his first were stopping the blades from moving all the way. If you need to know the apple slices the rest of the way with a spoon so I don't cut myself.
