I saw this in an Eastwood Co. ad and I'm replacing a front strut/shock on a 2016 4Runner. I already have 2 sets of Instant Decapitators (threaded coil compression devices). I felt MUCH more confident using this device. I can "steer" the spool away from me. The first 1.5 inches or so squeezes together very easily, after that it tightens up a bit, but I just used a ratchet and socket wrench (I know you can use a hammer). It was pretty easy. I had to rotate the shock slightly (alignment for easier installation). Resetting is not a problem. In contrast to "other" devices, the cups are so thin that they can be easily reinserted between coils. The plastic protectors are already broken (I didn't use them anyway). I highly recommend them. I saw a review of a broken set. I'm wondering if there was an occlusion in the metal or maybe they dropped that block. Very good device, great price.
