This is the first time I've tried to make a project like this and it took me about 8 hours. Some of this time was met with disappointment due to some errors in the instructions (another reviewer mentioned the error on page 9). Some of that frustration was also due to my own mistakes (yes, you must read the instructions carefully). The biggest problem I faced was building an elevator system. These jacks need to be sanded and smoothed very well for the system to work. I ended up oiling mine and loosening the side stays to reduce friction (the only way to get it to work). However, since I've loosened the side braces, my lifts tend to tilt sideways and the balls sometimes fall off the ledge. I compensated by adding a side arm (as seen in the video). You can also see in the video that I painted the block. I knew this was going to be a long project and I wanted it to be worth my time, so I set out to make it as pretty as possible. I used UV glow paint, but the paint was still bright enough that I could see the numerical parts on the parts (if you can't read them, you're out of luck). At first I was afraid the paint would interfere with the gears. etc., but that's not a problem at all. The only problem was that the paint made it harder to rip the pieces off the wood panels, needless to say I broke a few pieces, but nothing Krazy Glue couldn't handle. Overall I really enjoyed the build process, it was nice to see that everything fits together (even with my mistakes). Adding color really makes a big difference and I highly recommend this route to anyone considering it. I ordered the motor hoping to find a way to automate the device (I'll post a new video once I'm done with this) but now I have a really good feeling turning the knob and gears watch (which I built). ). ) Rotate and move the balls in the maze (very fun to rotate if you built it yourself). Despite the issues I've had, I still highly recommend this device. (Just be careful and know you will make mistakes). Patience, young Padewan. :-)
