You may need to cut the outer shell.
It wasn't obvious that the hole needed for installation was too small. We had to speak to an electrician who told us to just open the hole with a knife. It was a quick fix that worked well. However, if we weren't lucky enough to have the electrician tell us how to cut the outer shell, we'd be pretty sure we bought the wrong part.
