First, let me say that this is a pure gaming monitor. It has most of the features you need to play. It has a high refresh rate, QHD resolution and almost no lag. What this monitor sacrifices for these features is contrast. Colors and blacks appear washed out compared to other non-gaming monitors or more expensive gaming monitors. This isn't the fault of this particular monitor, but rather the 'TN' LCD panel found in most gaming models. Personally, I use this monitor for general gaming as well as web browsing and occasional video watching. For gaming, this display is excellent! With higher refresh rates and low latency, games look perfectly smooth and graphics are crisp. I play a variety of games including first person shooters and racing games. Both have lots of dynamic graphics and are rendered with great accuracy. Black levels are acceptable when gaming. In games with lots of dark scenes, I found the extra brightness of this monitor to be an advantage, especially when you need to search for items in-game. As I have already noticed, everything looks brighter due to the low contrast. I didn't find this to be a major issue while playing as I care more about the gameplay than how blue the sky is or how green the grass. Watching videos and surfing the web really suffer. However, this monitor has many presets to adjust the image for different purposes. By simply turning down the brightness, I found this display to be great for web browsing and general video watching. It's not the kind of display I'd watch a full-length movie on, but I can watch YouTube videos with no issues. Finally, this monitor is very well built and has many other great features. The built-in USB hub is very convenient. I've connected a pair of USB speakers to one of the ports for power, and since the monitor also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio output, I can connect speakers to it and receive audio coming out of the display port or HDMI is input. Output from the graphics card. In addition, this monitor has a height-adjustable stand that allows you to place the monitor at the ideal eye level. This might not seem like a huge feature at first, but many cheaper monitors don't come with height-adjustable stands, and once you have them, you'll appreciate their flexibility. As such, it's a great display for gaming, but it can be used for other purposes as well. However, if gaming isn't a priority for you, you might be better off with another monitor with a higher contrast ratio.
