Review on Yokohama Geolandar I/T-S G073 215/65 R16 98Q winter by Stanislaw Banasiuk ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, absolutely not expected for such a price.

Latvia, Grand Cherokee BK2 (2022), 255/60 p18, Velcro. I can't drive easily. For 4 seasons worn out by 70%. Enough for another season. At the same time, as they wear out, the grip properties are not lost (as in my 50% wear on Hankook, any properties were generally lost) of winter tires. In one of the unusually warm winter seasons, I noticed that at +10 the tires seem to become too soft, but in fact, my stupidity wakes up along with sunny days and I start to drive and enter turns at great speed. The car noticeably slides outward. It's not summer tires! On the autobahn in Germany, I drove 4 hours early in the morning (+3) in ice at a speed of 140 km / h. in a straight line. Very dumb . the slightest change in the trajectory threatens to skid. I had to slow down to 100 km / h, and only then did I confidently change lanes without the threat of skidding. All Germans trudged 60-70 km / h, but they all ride all-seasons. On snow, on mud, on sand (down to 1.8 bar for the winter) rowing is excellent. For the autobahn, I pumped up 2.4 bars, then it doesn’t swim at all when maneuvering. The rolls are big on these tires (I think because of the high profile), I need a high profile for Sunday rides to get down to 1.1-1.5 bar. On the 20's disks, the rubber profile is quite small, but there are no rolls and turns well. Only at +10 and above - it still starts to slide outward. And now the ominous load and speed index is 112Q (160 km / h for 10 minutes with a maximum wheel load of 1100 kg.). I don't understand what people are afraid of. I go to Germany empty 160 km / h on the autobahn all the time, if there is no ice (the weight of the car is 2300 kg), the load on each wheel is 562.5 kg (this is only half of the allowable load). When the food is overloaded back, then the load on each wheel is 775 kg (gross weight 3100 kg). Very close to maximum load and still going 160 km / h. I have never seen anyone faster than me in winter (no one has overtaken) either on asphalt or on snow. The rubber is strong and very wear-resistant, the stock is large. Who does not have enough of such a speed index ?

Pros
  • The durability is fantastic. On the Grand Cherokee FB2 (2022) it steers absolutely adequately on asphalt, on clean asphalt, on porridge, on icy asphalt. On Sunday off-road rides, the tires proved to be very passable both on snow and in mud and sand (although it blew up to 1.1 bar).
Cons
  • I didn’t find it, although if there is “no” sound insulation on your car, you will hear a rumble. On my diesel Grande, the noise was very good, so the rumble was barely noticeable. On the Passat, where the Shumka is not very good, you will hear a rumble, but it is like a monotonous noise that does not enter into resonance at any speeds. I think this noise is normal and not annoying. Of the ones I have used, only Goodyear Ultra Grip 8 (Velcro) is better, it does not make noise at all, but it costs three times more.
