So honestly, unless it's absolutely necessary, don't open the circle. I did this because another review said they put cardboard inside to flatten the areas for her green cheeks. I chose to do this for mine because it was too deep for him to get all the treats ie a very upset bird. The screw was difficult to remove and screw in later, but I managed. Then I refilled the sections from the holes and the treat came out. When I had to make new cardboard inserts as the others had shifted and removed it was almost impossible to get the screw out and almost impossible to put back in. The next day he managed to knock off the entire front part of the toy, the screw and all. It's not a big bird and it shouldn't have been able to. It's a shame as it was one of his favorite puzzle feeders. I will not attempt to reinstall it due to the risk of injury.
