Day Blue bulbs were purchased to protect outdoor bird baths from freezing. The bulbs were enclosed in a metal platform and containers of water were placed on top. Of these three installations, only one worked, and the other two bulbs burned out within hours of their installation. I know they weren't meant for that purpose, but in this extreme Michigan cold, we'll try anything. Therefore, I do not recommend these lamps for purposes other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
