Nice project and fun gift after assembly.
This makes a great little gift. Music box, night light. secret branch. Moving carousel. What do not like. My wife has been looking forward to this as a Valentine's Day gift for decades. Note that the parts must be carefully assembled and waxed or sanded according to the instructions in order to work reliably and without binding. The instructions are clear thanks to illustrations. This project is of moderate difficulty, but no special tools or experience are required. I suspect a LEGO/Tech assembler will have no problem with this. And even an advanced carpenter will find the design interesting and sometimes ingenious.
