Review on 🍲 2-Quart Covered Double Boiler from Farberware's Classic Stainless Series by Matt Ellis

Excellent for this money!

I have used this both for heating food in the ground (soup) and as a steamer, mainly for melting chocolate or heating egg whites and sugar for icing and making ganache, and I'm quite happy with the performance given the low price. As others have mentioned, there is a groove around the sidewall for food to settle in, but I found it easy to remove if I use my rubber spatula (which I use for stirring anyway) to just slide into the groove to scratch while i scratch the side down it just comes out. I don't really care, and I hadn't "cooked" anything that couldn't be easily removed. I think a quick soak in hot soapy water will remove any stubborn residue. I haven't used it for sauces or floury dishes so it might be different. The bottom of the pot is a bit thinner, but as it's primarily intended to be used as a steamer, it doesn't really bother and isn't flimsy. He feels strong. I think this product is worth the money. I'm not a professional cook so I've never used expensive pots and pans and can't offer any comparisons but I use these a lot and would buy them again based on my experience.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
