The top of this steamer is not 2 liters.

I couldn't decide between this pot and the 3 liter pot. I really liked this one the best. Since 2 quarts were said I figured it was close but quite a lot. I put 5 cups of milk in the top of the steamer and it came to within 1/2 inch of the top of the pot. I measured the distance just to be sure. I make yogurt and stir very little to keep me going.

NOT 2 liter: steamer

Farberware Stainless Steel Classic Series 2 liter internal steamer This is a very good steamer if you are cooking 1 liter or less. The hotplate holds 40 fl oz to the brim before overflowing, giving a maximum cooking capacity of 32 oz. This is NOT a 2 liter steamer. Not sure why it has a misleading label, it's even misleading on the Farberware website. If you need a 2 liter capacity, try T-fal B1399663.

Not like old Farbervars

I've been a fan of cookware for decades. I have grandmothers that I've been using since I inherited the set from her in 1980. I bought it to add to my collection and unfortunately the steel is noticeably thinner. It still works but I'm wondering if it will last as long as my old cookware. It's sad that some executives, thinking they can make more money and save on quality, don't pass that higher return on to their employees, but are likely to pay the CEO more money to get a bigger boat. I could

I love these stainless steel pans with aluminum bottoms!

I love these stainless steel pans but thought I bought a steamer not a steamer. It's ok though, I still love these things. They look great, are clean and the aluminum built into their base is very efficient at dissipating heat! I took an old utility knife blade and gently ran back and forth up and down the reference line on the top and bottom of the handle until it was smooth to the touch. Ergonomics baby! A: I have quite a few of these, from a cute little 1 liter pot with a lid to a 3 liter…

Design flaws best for pots and pans

There is one major design flaw that needs to be fixed, it seems the second pot has an inner rim that should be filled in instead of a ring but leave the outer one alone ring. The 8 meter point you want to achieve is that the inner ring in the pot will hold water and cause mold growth. If you use it for cooking, you need to clean it thoroughly because mold will still form even after the first cleaning. I've cleaned these pans many times and it seems that no matter what type of mold is yet to…

Excellent for this money!

I have used this both for heating food in the ground (soup) and as a steamer, mainly for melting chocolate or heating egg whites and sugar for icing and making ganache, and I'm quite happy with the performance given the low price. As others have mentioned, there is a groove around the sidewall for food to settle in, but I found it easy to remove if I use my rubber spatula (which I use for stirring anyway) to just slide into the groove to scratch while i scratch the side down it just comes out…

Not as good weight as the old Farberware pans

As advertised, nicely made stainless steel pot - well rounded edges also allow for drip free pouring which I miss even with very expensive brands! So far I've used it to infuse honey with herbs but nothing else so far. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the thickness of the metal no longer matches the Farberware; I have a 1.5 liter Farberware pot which I keep although the handle fell off years ago because it's a great little pot for cooking rice, reheating soups etc - I've had it…

Not for my purpose

This is a great pot but unfortunately Farberware have changed the proportions of their steamer so the top half has a smaller portion of the pot that dangles just as much as the bottom half the previous versions. I wanted to modify it and repurpose it for use in a rice steamer, but this flatter top half won't work. Years ago I had a Comet Rice aluminum rice pan that I loved and decided I wanted a stainless steel version. I couldn't find it, but I did find a used Farberware classic steamer on…
