Disclaimer: I am testing a device that I received for free through the Vine program. good device. I've never owned a digital meat thermometer; In fact, I've never had analogues. (My mom had an analog long stick with a round analog temperature knob on the end in the 1960s). So this is my first meat thermometer. I've wanted to get one for years, and now the technology has advanced enough that this little $20 device is pretty decent, if not perfect. Yes, the main unit is a little thin. Part of the probe needle is more durable. it shakes at times and takes a few seconds to settle down while reading, other reviewers have reported. and I'm left-handed so it would be nice if it was somehow designed for both hands instead of just focusing on holding it in your right hand, but that's not such a big deal if you're just testing a piece of meat occasionally . Removable/replaceable batteries are both good and bad. It would be nice to have a built-in battery, but that would increase the cost and these batteries wear out over time. If you wish, you can simply use rechargeable AAA batteries.
