Accuracy within 3°C, response time 15 seconds, weak

Accuracy in boiling water within 2°C (reading 98°C); Accuracy for ice water to 3°C (read 3°C); Accuracy at room temperature within 2°C. Slow: It takes more than 15 seconds to detect the temperature. Cheap plastic, not waterproof. Do not immerse in water, the bowels and battery compartment will be flooded immediately. Uses 2 AAA batteries (not included). Fragile plastic construction with black silicone sleeve that must be removed for battery replacement or cleaning. The probe is awkward to pull…

Suitable for basic cooking needs

This thermometer measures within a degree or two of other digital thermometers suitable for checking the doneness of meat. If you need serious temperature accuracy, this thermometer is not for you. I wouldn't recommend this for candy or anything that requires a very specific temperature, but if you're doing something like this you still need a custom thermometer. It's reasonably priced, and the silicone case makes it easy to hold (although the thermometer itself is plastic, so don't leave it in

decent digital meat thermometer

Disclaimer: I am testing a device that I received for free through the Vine program. good device. I've never owned a digital meat thermometer; In fact, I've never had analogues. (My mom had an analog long stick with a round analog temperature knob on the end in the 1960s). So this is my first meat thermometer. I've wanted to get one for years, and now the technology has advanced enough that this little $20 device is pretty decent, if not perfect. Yes, the main unit is a little thin. Part of the

Lots of good features but room for improvement

I've been grilling for years but have somehow avoided using a thermometer/probe. Ironically, I've always used an oven thermometer for turkey and other meats. I was almost certain that I would love this device, but a few flaws make it far from perfect. Pros: It has a backlit digital display (necessary at night), alternately displays ºF and ºC, displays upper and lower temperature readings. , and finally, it includes a built-in LED flashlight. The shape and foldable probe are well designed with a

Good tool for grilling

This was the first time I've used a food probe to check the temperature of the meat/chicken I'm grilling, I just never thought it was that important. I've read some other reviews and many of them compare this sensor to other, more expensive sensors - just thinking about that and nothing else. First thoughts - I like the device. It's easy to use, uncluttered, a good size, and has an easy-to-read display. The probe folds up so it doesn't just stick out and get in the way. Others have found that…

Handy digital thermometer but not without flaws

Pretty decent digital thermometer for grilling, smoking and cooking meat. The silicone/rubber sheet feels nice and is very comfortable to grip. The collapsible probe is spring loaded and can be mounted in 5 different angles/positions (including fully folded for storage and security). The block itself under the foil is cheap plastic and painted silver. It's strong and sufficient. It is powered by two AAA batteries (not included). I like that the digital display is backlit with blue light, which…
