Review on Sunsong 3401201 Steering Pressure Assembly by Robert Wells

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Subtle details, gross fitment

This is a rating of the part itself and the rating reflects my set up was PAINFUL. I put it on a 2009 Odyssey. It's absurd to get at the power steering pump connector on this car. I even bought the "linear" wrenches needed to get a better grip on the fitting. I'm pretty mechanical, but it's a two-person job. One to align and hold the threads straight on the RnP handlebar and a second person to tighten them. The part easily went all the way to the end of the power steering fluid reservoir and fitted to the back of the engine. Mounting the armature to the rack and pinion was a nightmare. The problem I had was tightening it from the RnP steering side. I put as much effort as I could into the matching nut to tighten them up. It took the better part of 3-4 hours due to my frustrations with the actual installation listed above. After 4-5 days it started leaking again and I haven't experienced it again. I took it to my trusted mechanic. Later he called and said he just tightened it a bit and tightened it again. He thinks he has 1/4 turn more than me. Luckily I was only charged $50 for his time. There is no o-ring on the RnP side of the fitting so it is compression only. At least I didn't snap the strings I swore with as much force as I had to. This may indicate a fairly strong metal composition of the part.
