As a result of numerous torments and complaints, I spoiled a lot of material, in particular, designer paper and special cardboard, since it was not so easy to cut it on a regular board. Not just yet, and not very perfect. Watching my attempts to make the same blanks for his postcards, my husband could not stand it anymore and took me shopping to buy a special rug. And I knew right away what I needed. I will say that the prices for such rugs are not small. The A4 format costs almost 100 hryvnias, there are rugs in a larger format, but the prices there were veiled about 300 hryvnias and even higher. I chose for myself a model self-healing mat in A4 format DAFA. This is how my purchase looked like initially. The rug is packed in a transparent plastic bag, there is even a price tag on it - 98 hryvnias. On the reverse side there are two small stickers with information about this product. The manufacturer of this rug is Taiwan, in fact, most of the material for needlework is produced there, including different types. scrapbooking paper and cardboard, which I have already worked with. I liked the quality, I hoped that the rug would not let you down. The distributor of this brand in Ukraine is TOV "Rosa Trade" (Volyn region). The dimensions of the mock-up mat are 300 mm (length) X 220 mm (width) X 3 mm (height). The surface of the mat is pleasant to the touch, somewhat reminiscent of dense rubber with a light matte finish. It is interesting that the full composition, or rather the material of the rug is not indicated on the packaging, nothing could be found out about this on the Internet. On the reverse side, the rug without marking is also suitable for work. Now about the work process. Of course, such a rug immediately facilitated my work for cutting blanks for postcards, although, nevertheless, a larger size rug would probably be more convenient, since my cardboard sheet was completely placed on the rug and the markings were not visible. But my format of postcards is much smaller, because having got used to it, I began to make the dimensions I needed, and also to additionally check the evenness of all sides of the product, a metal ruler also served as an additional assistant here. Along with such a rug, I bought a construction knife for working with cardboard, I will tell about it separately, but why I remembered it, just I want to tell you about a mistake that I made due to inexperienceImmediately after buying on a new rug, I decided to test my purchases in action with a new knife, and without calculating the forces a little, I managed to damage this "self-healing" mock-up rug,It didn’t fully recover on its own, and it already has several noticeable scratches, so this rug also requires special care and proper operation. But despite my inexperience and experiments, for almost two months I have been using the DAFA mock-up mat for my work with great pleasure. With it, the process of cutting paper and cardboard has become easier, all measurements can be done many times faster, and the creative process brings only pleasure. For those who need such a mat, I recommend that you determine the size in advance, but also look at options where you can buy it cheaper, since the prices for DAFA restoring mock-up mats are very different depending on the places of sale. It is best to contact specialized stores for needlework. You can also choose a color if you wish. You can be sure of the quality of such a rug, in most cases this brand is chosen by more professional creative specialists (look at the forums), the main thing is also to treat this thing with care and then it will last a long time.
