A common disadvantage of lights are switches, sensitivity to vibration and susceptibility to water. I cannot speak to this lantern's weakness for water, but I can speak to the others. During a 6 hour mountain bike race where the last 2 hours were in the dark, this light was flawless. It worked perfectly. Two days later I put it on my road bike on a single charge to try out on night rides (I work irregular shifts) and it was great as far as the lighting goes. The brightness is excellent. I would compare it to the brightness of the headlights on a new high end moped. The mount moved throughout the race (our team finished third; it wasn't just a game date) and not an iota on my MTB handlebars. I'm constantly moving on the handlebars of a racing bike. I think a rubber band underneath will solve this problem. I will update this review to inform potential buyers. As a result, it does not move and works perfectly. I'm sure an equivalent piece of material would do the job as well. * 2+ year update * The battery has lost its ability to hold an appreciable charge. For the first six months I had it, it was great. It turns the light on continuously at low level for 3 hours or more. Then my schedule changed and I didn't have to drive at night for over a year. Circumstances forced me to return to normal night driving from this summer (2016), and after not using the flashlight and battery for over a year, the flashlight only gets power for about 1 hour, sometimes less. He also became inconsistent. I went on a after dark drive this week and didn't plan on more than 45 minutes. The battery was fully charged so I figured I had at least an hour. no After 20 minutes it went off and I had to drive home in the dark. Not very safe or fun. So after more than 2 years of use I can still say that the light itself is great. Just don't expect the battery to last very long. Went 5 to 4 stars.
