I don't know, maybe it's just my engine setup, but turning in a direction that pulls the tie rod back into the lean tube can only compress the amount of rubber in that part enough that it ends up preventing the steering Rod does not fully return into tilt tube. Maybe other engines have longer tilt tubes that stick out further and allow this bellows to slide and thus prevent this situation, but my tilt tube only sticks out of the bracket far enough to fit 1 narrow lock nut on it. The product itself feels solid and fits well. I would still buy it to protect the tie rod from salt water.
